You do not need to purchase the new dictionary. The CC-CEDICT dictionary is sufficient for many people's needs. The reviews you currently see in the Android Market are for Hanping Pro using CC-CEDICT. Having an extra possibility for a new dictionary (ABC Chinese-English) should not be a disappointment!

We have licensed the ABC Chinese-English dictionary to give power users more options, but for everyone else everything works the same as before.

Please let us know if you still have concerns about this.

I know man, same here, I realize that need to Buy new dictionary implement for extra cost. When we already paid for Pro version. Which is TOTAL not WORTH IT.

EmberMitre is a TOTAL FAIL.

Very Disappointed in the New Dictionary for more Money

Postby ekoandrew » 23 Nov 2011, 15:25

What is up with this, New Dictionary meant more payment for Hanping Pro buyers. WHY?
If you decide to have people buy Pro version, which clearly meant, have all dictionaries plus all future addons.
Not some bullshit, having people paying more for what they already paid for.

I only see fitting, that all extra Purchases are made to the Hanping pro into free, and have people pay for the extra dictionaries.

Not only I see, buying new dictionaries a problem, some buyers might not realize this. Apps paid from Market, meant able to install on any same account Android devices.
There for that, the new payment, ONLY works on 1 time installation basis per device. That someone like me have 3 android devices, which in return I need to PAY 3 times for dictionary.
All you guys are just trying to loot people of their wallet of cash.

Do not give a Excuse, that you guys license this new dictionary, and really good dictionary. That you are having us to pay extra for what you guys paid for license. Just extra money to cover your expenses in return.

We would love to be able to indefinitely license new content and features and give it for free to our existing customers. For cheaper features like Handwriting Recognition, we have indeed done this. But when it comes to expensive dictionary add-ons, this is financially not plausible.

By the way, in-app purchases are per-user NOT per-installation so it doesn't matter if you have one device or ten devices, you only need to pay once to use the ABC dictionary on ALL your devices (that run Android Market since this is used to check the license).

We will continue to improve Hanping Pro in terms of features, performance, UX etc. However, there will be some major features/content (like ABC) which will only be available as an in-app purchase.

Thank you for your understanding.

Those are very unfair comments. Hanping didn't suddenly get worse because you now have the option to buy an additional dictionary.

Surely it's not Hanping that got worse, it's just my purse that got worse. If knew before buy it that every new dictionary needed to be paid, then it's possible I didn't buy it. It's the first android app I see that need to pay new dictionaries. But it's OK,I will go on to use the one included in the hanping pro

I registered on the forum just to say that I entirely agree with b9anders, those are very unfair and uninformed comments. I was considering buying the ABC dictionary in Pleco for $20 (btw in Pleco you do have to pay for each new dictionary or buy the $50 or $100 bundle). So having ABC in Hanping for 11.95€ really is a great option, especially since the cheapest paper version I could find is at 14.90€ on amazon.fr.

edit: ABC in Pleco is $20 not $25 as previously stated.

I really don't understand you people! I think that Hanping Chinese Pro is a really wonderful app - and I gladly spent a further $16.00 for the new dictionary. I have been a student of Chinese for a number of years and have an electronic dictionary which cost me over $600.00 plus numerous other hard copy dictionaries. The Hanping app practically takes the place of all of these items and I have the convenience of having it all at my fingertips on my phone. In addition, the character recognition feature works much better than that on my very expensive electronic dictionary. Kudos to the developer of this app - they've done a great job for very little cost.
